So, today was the first day of speedwork that I've done in a long time! My goal, per my training schedule, was to run 5 miles with two 1600's at a 9:02 pace. Well, it didn't work out exactly how I had planned! First of all, I didn't read my schedule very good and thought I was supposed to do the 1600's in 9:11. Second of all, I'm a wimp and hate to push myself beyond my comfort zone--which this was. And thirdly, now I know how important speed work is!
Anyway, here's the breakdown:
Average Pace: 10:53; Best Pace 7:05
Lap 1- 11:57 (1 mile); Lap 2- 10:12 (.52 miles); Lap 3- 9:17 (.98 miles); Lap 4-11:07 (1 mile); Lap 5- 10:50 (.19 miles); Lap 6- 9:06 (1 mile); Lap 7-16:01 (.47 miles) |
